Vijay Seshadri previews "Equal to the Earth"

Jee Leong Koh is a vigorous, physical poet very much captured by the expressive power of rhythm, rhetoric, and the lexicon. He is also, paradoxically, a poet in pursuit of the most elusive and delicate of human emotions. The contradiction is wonderful and compelling, and so are his poems.

Hi Peter. The book is coming out end March, just in time for Poetry Month.

Hm. What exactly is the "paradox"? The "blurb" implies a contradiction in tone, yet I cannot see one. I suspect the "paradox" is physical and delicate. But, thinking of a gymnast, physicality is the creator of delicacy...and the reverse is true. A nice piece of praise, which you deserve, yet I'm not sure I know what the hell it means in poetical terms.

Perhaps he meant the paradox of vigorous and delicate; physical and emotional.
